Graydon Krapohl for Ann Arbor City Council
I am running for City Council to represent Ann Arbor’s 4th Ward because I love Ann Arbor and want to have an active role in representing the residents of my ward and in shaping Ann Arbor’s future. I am committed to being a public servant and in helping people and the community where I live. I have always believed that involvement in our local government is essential as the daily decisions made and actions taken directly impact the quality of our everyday lives.
As we move forward, today’s decisions must create the conditions to strengthen our community for continued prosperity while preserving Ann Arbor’s character. It is imperative that we look for new ways of thinking about the issues and problems we face. We need to reframe the questions we ask in order to develop the policies and programs needed to move forward. Only by doing this can we meet the challenges of today while also creating an environment for success in the future.
I was born in Ann Arbor, raised here as a young child, and graduated from the University of Michigan. I always knew this is where I wanted to return to raise my family. Ann Arbor is an extraordinary community to live and work and I appreciate our wonderful neighborhoods, schools, parks, downtown, and above all, the welcoming people that embodies the “Ann Arbor” way of life.
On council I am pragmatic in my approach and decision making. I keep an open mind when considering issues and take into account all viewpoints and all voices and I always look to build consensus whenever possible. I cut through the rhetoric, identify the problem, and then work collaboratively to find solutions.
I believe Ann Arbor is headed in the right direction and I want to continue moving our community forward. On Council I have worked to improve the quality of life for our community by supporting the investment in road and infrastructure projects, improved pedestrian and cyclists safety programs; maintaining our parks, keeping our neighborhoods safe; and most important, helping residents find solutions to their problems.
I will continue working to keep Ann Arbor a safe, vibrant and inviting community for all. I have the temperament, experience, character, and commitment to get the job done. Please remember to vote on August 7th and thank you for your support.
